“I, Pencil”, a new exhibit at PIFO New Art Gallery, opened on September 22, 2012.
The exhibit examines from a new perspective the relationship between artists and the pencils in their artwork, while at the same time attempting to show a different side of the “pencil” in these artists’ particular pieces. When “pencil” is juxtaposed against “I”, when the pencil’s identity changes from tool to subject, where might its potential for expression flourish, where might it extend and evolve?
The shapes that hide within our everyday doodling represent experiences long ignored, but these are what “I, Pencil” wants to express and highlight.
