The way of heaven is capricious, the universe both mysterious signs, and no false.This sentence illustrates a fundamental problem of the epistemology of the human world, when the occurrence of the two things is inherent, the former thing is often called the sign of the latter, or the other. Everything in the universe is both unexpected and inevitable. The signs are open, divergent, let people continue to associate; and no false is mysterious, convergence, unprepared, the relationship between the two is like the mysterious Taiji diagram, is opposite dependent, inclusive symbiotic, under some special conditions, the two can transform each other, this also corresponds to the ancient Chinese philosophy, behind the elements and effects of the universe, Yin and Yang for the way.

 

Signs and absence are not fixed. With the accumulation of knowledge and cognition from ancient times to contemporary times, many of them have become signs, such as tall trees to lightning. Through the observation of signs, people have known how to avoid this occurrence of omission. In the unknown world, even in today's world, the question of how a Florida butterfly shaking its wings caused a hurricane in the Atlantic is chaos and hypothesis.

 

Speaking of Wu Jian 'an, his every exhibition can always bring the viewer a great visual and perceptual shock, that is, after the exhibition "omen", what kind of visual "surprise" will Wu Jian' an bring to us? With the opening of the exhibition approaching, Wu Jian'an is still almost crazy in the creation of the exhibition. We communicate with the exhibition almost every day, but in this process, new ideas and feelings are constantly changing the structure and form of the exhibition, which makes us excited and happy for this. From his creation logic and exhibition logic, I think the signs of "omen" may be "no false", just like two sides of a coin, a casual leak of heaven, an ancient myth, legend, prophecy, prophecy, prophecy...... All of these systems constructed in the form of contemporary art can be explained by two or more completely different interpretations, rather than one.

 

There are many perspectives of interpretation and analysis of Wu Jian 'an's works. It is not difficult for the audience to see the innumerable relationships between him and ancient Chinese legends, as well as the nutrients he draws from traditional Chinese folk art. However, the author believes that for Wu Jian 'an's creation method, the perspective of his research is not limited to this. What makes Wu Jian'an complete the value transformation and language construction of his contemporary art in his artistic practice. Is the source in the moment? Or is it the precipitation of thinking and practice? Or some kind of invisible thrust?

 

No delusion, unexpectedly however of the maze.


The audience will first enter a face formed by hundreds of black cowhide strokes, formed into a maze of orderly "plain" space. Walking through this mysterious and even slightly weird knife shadow face, the viewer will meet the black and white "Five hundred strokes" and "Daydream Forest" hidden bronze trees, as well as "Strange Treasure" with gold foil animal bones and body model, unexpectedly encounter......

 

This group of works is the continuation of Wu Jian 'an's Shadow of the Knife series. In previous works, the artist used the cowhide to make people split, cut, stab and poke the knife on the surface of the cowhide. In the dry process of the cowhide, the wound is stretched and magnified, shocking, and it is the epitome of people's subconscious violence. In the process of creating the new works, Wu Jian'an gradually became interested in the shape of the knife hanging after the cowhide was cut. The whole cowhide was refined and patterned by him to form a face, showing a figure only in an ancient civilization, and even reminiscent people of the carrier of recording the soul of god. The artist originally did not want to draw some mysterious ancient face modeling, but through the inner guidance of the heart into the state of selflessness, or the state of ignorance, this effect comes unexpectedly.

 

In Wu's words: " These images are more like a chance encounter or something destined to appear, rather than an expectation, design, tracking or search. This process seems to tell us that perhaps we are fundamentally connected with the ancient civilization, but we do not know it.”

 

Human building maze has thousands of years of history, and in WuJian 'an works, in the maze of totem face construction wall, move in the scene found between the golden elephant head, golden deer, no leather bag gold tiger, and head and tail in pigs, etc., these mysterious strange animals repeated in WuJianan's works. It is traced back to think that human beings have worshipped animals since ancient times, but rather to worship their ancestors, just as the Oroqen people call the male bear "Ya Ya" is the grandfather, and the female bear "too paste", which means the grandmother. They believe that this supernatural ability can give them strength and skills, and even protection.

 

Whether the viewer will lose himself in this dark forest, or find some answer, this sensory experience does not need to describe, the shock of the work is directed to the heart.

 

View without delusion, the intention of the creator.


Wearing a faint power maze, the viewer's perspective through a long and narrow channel, and once again introduced into an extreme "mysterious" space, where a group of animals snow leopard, Wolf, zebra, wildebeest, red deer, sika deer, eagle, peacock, etc., float in the black mirror pool. These are not written by the creator, all the animals are "human creation". The whole space is more like a scene where animal specimens are made unfinished. Human creation, from human trying to imitate the behavior of natural objects, create synthetic artificial chromosome, artificial biological gene technology, human manufacturing power seems to be constantly improving, but scientific development is always a double-edged sword."Heaven and earth are not kind, with all things as the humble dog", heaven and earth live all things, no matter survival, reproduction or death, things have their own laws of development, whether it is the prosperity of all things, the operation of heaven and earth, everything is like moistening things silently, heaven and earth is the most natural.

 

The world built by Wu Jian'an with his artistic language is more like a philosophical speculation. In this world, no truth is the truth, and we should face it with the attitude of "view". What is truth? What is illusory? The importance of his works of art is not only to present the viewer what kind of visual feeling, also is not to provide what kind of perspective to understand the relationship between traditional and contemporary, the traditional sense of aesthetic evaluation method is insufficient to describe the spirit of works and the exhibition itself, need from the expansion of the system, introspection and self-improvement. What is more meaningful for the viewer is to understand wu Jian 'an's expression.

 

No false sincerity, artificial signs of the first moment
Between the steps move around, the viewer seems to have entered the super time and space through to another strange "dazzle" color fantasy. Several simulation animals seem to be severely glued together by the thick paint, and with the colorful "mask" and the colorful "five hundred strokes" hit together. The audience will find that, for Wu Jian'an, his artistic creation has its own complex systems, rules and conditions. The same work can contain endless ways of extension and transformation in different fields. Even in the same exhibition, there will be different interpretations and narration of specific Spaces, even bringing people completely backward philosophical thinking, which is also unimaginable. This time, Wu Jian'an boldly used animals to make brushes and canvas, and painted dozens of kilograms of paint with each other. Because of these movements, these animals became some kind of strange beast. For painting, pigments are only the material used to express color, but for Wu Jian'an, the high bonding and coverage of color itself make it an organic composition of this group of works. Color and emotion are related, and often have different meanings in different regional cultures, which have become a sign of the most simple form of human society, and have a strong artificial color. Its significance is not only in this, some abrupt, some indescribable, at the same time and sincere no false.

 

According to Wu Jian'an, " Pigments are purified substances in the natural world and have a strong brand of human behavior. The combination of different animals may initially be a strange monster, which becomes a sign recorded in the literature. In real life, we are moving closer to the "artificial signs", and step by step to the future of the "artificial signs"."Since the first time that human beings made pottery with water, soil and fire, the development of human society has been accompanied by the continuous emergence of various human beings, and all kinds of man-made things are constantly changing the future world of human beings. From the point of view of signs and absence, all kinds of absence is not human plan, but all the signs are already contained in the first opportunity. Can do no false, can shun the things inside and outside, no delusion is the root, so for the sincere way. The knowledge and visual images accumulated by Wu Jian'an and combed in the rational world are superimposed and fermented, and what he shows a "super spontaneous" state of creation. Perhaps this is unconsciously a spiritual path opened by the artist to the ancient world, which will be transmitted to the multi-dimensional space and time with a perceived spiritual power through some mysterious ritual sense. When this sense of ritual connects the ancient parallel world, the present and the future in a penetrating way, the souls of different time and space achieve some kind of understanding. Although this intrusion makes people a little unprepared and uncontrollable, it is like the call of a mysterious world, attracting us to follow Wu Jian'an and experience a journey of spiritual discovery close to Tao.
