Blue Preface

Leni Senger

Julio Rondo draws on a transcendental approach of imagination, intuition and perception to deconstruct the usual narrative experience from rational logic, freeing it from a solid storytelling basis and making it more free, marvellous and loose, with a fluid connection to the many inspirations above perception.

He arranges colour and shape on the back side of the glass, the fluid lines and smooth texture exuding a minimalist abstraction of formal meaning without reservation. The colours are compartmentalised, overlapping and touching, and the elements within the underlying fabric are distinguished by the air in between and diluted with each other with the play of light, thus giving a full visual thickness.

Despite and precisely because of the autobiographical colouring of his works, it becomes clear that, in and through Rondo’s work, every experience and every work of art is individual and specific and that life and art do not have to be the result of what happened before, but rather the potential for reinvention is inherent in every moment.
